From the south (Oregon, Olympia, etc.) LEISURELY ROUTE – Take Interstate 5 until the turnoff to Shelton on Highway 101. Continue north on Highway 101 to the middle of the town of Quilcene. Turn right onto Center Road (actually more of going straight while Highway 101 veers to the left), toward the towns of Chimacum and Port Townsend. Follow Center Road for about 10 miles. Look for a small cemetery on your right. Cemetery Road is immediately before Larson Lake Road. Turn right onto Larson Lake Road. In 3.85 miles, you will come to Beavers Pond Retreat on your left. Just past the pond is the driveway for Julianna’s Cottage at 3851 Larson Lake Road. The next left turn is for our private road, Beavers Pond Trail. Turn left here for the House and Suite. Also From the south (Oregon, Olympia, etc.) FREEWAY ROUTE – Take Interstate 5 north until the turnoff to Bremerton on Highway 16, west. (This is shortly before you reach Tacoma.) Continue west on Highway 16 to Bremerton, traveling over the Narrows Bridge. (There is a spectacular view here but it can really be jammed up for the afternoon/evening commute.) Near Bremerton, start following signs for the Hood Canal Bridge. The highway number changes but you really don't change roads; just keep going towards the HC Bridge. Just past Poulsbo, the freeway ends and it becomes a two-lane highway. Keep following the signs for the Hood Canal Bridge. After you cross the bridge (a terrific view of the Olympic Mountains as you travel this mile long floating bridge), continue up the hill about 6 miles. Take a right on Highway 19, towards Port Townsend and Port Ludlow (known locally as the Beaver Valley Road). In about 1½ miles there will be a road to the right that you DO NOT TAKE; this heads into Port Ludlow. Continue for about another mile on SR 19 and the Beaver Valley Store will be on your left. Turn left here onto Larson Lake Road. In just a block or so, on the right, you will see our private road, Beavers Pond Trail (it is the 2nd right turn possible). Turn here for the House, Suite or our "office". The next right is the driveway for Julianna's Cottage at 3851 Larson Lake Road. NOTE From the south. Please note that the Leisurely Route and the Freeway Route take about the same length of time on average. The LR is shorter in distance but slower as it winds along the water of the Hood Canal. The FR can be driven at faster speeds, making up for the longer route. From the Tacoma area, travel south of Tacoma on Interstate 5 and take Highway 16 west over the Narrows Bridge towards Bremerton and follow the signs to the Hood Canal Bridge. Continue west on Highway 16 to Bremerton, traveling over the Narrows Bridge. (There is a spectacular view here but it can really be jammed up for the afternoon/evening commute.) From the north or east (Seattle or north of Seattle) the map will help you to decide. You may want to take one of three ferries:
From SeaTac Airport – You have two primary choices, use the Seattle Ferry to Bainbridge Island or drive around. To drive around, travel south on Interstate 5 towards Tacoma and follow our directions from Tacoma. This is about a 1½ hour drive unless it is the afternoon commute time (3 pm to 6 pm). To use the ferry, drive to Seattle (North on Interstate 5) and take the 4th Avenue Exit. Follow signs to the ferries. Be careful to watch, they are sometimes easy to miss. The drive from the airport to the Seattle-Bainbridge Island ferry takes about 30 minutes unless it is commute time. You will not want to try to drive on the ferry during commute hours, either morning (to Seattle) or afternoon (from Seattle). From Seattle take the ferry to Bainbridge Island. The ferry ride takes about 35 minutes. The drive will take about 45 minutes from the time you get off of the ferry to Beaver's Pond Retreat. As you get off the ferry, continue straight ahead through the town of Poulsbo and after approximately 13 miles you'll start to follow signs to the Hood Canal Bridge. Continue across the Hood Canal Bridge for approximately 6 miles. Continue for about another mile on Highway 19 and the Beaver Valley Store will be on your left. Turn left here onto Larson Lake Road. In just a block or so, on the right, you will see our private road, Beavers Pond Trail (it is the 2nd right turn possible). Turn here for the House, Suite. The next right is the driveway for Julianna's Cottage at 3851 Larson Lake Road. From Port Townsend, you will go south on Highway 20. Outside of town a few miles Highway 19 starts and Highway 20 requires a right turn (traffic light near the Ford dealer). DO NOT take the turn but continue on Highway 19 south toward the Hood Canal Bridge. After the 4 way stop in Chimacum, travel another 6 miles south and turn right on Larson Lake Road. This is the intersection where the little Beaver Valley Store, is located. In just a block or so, on the right, you will see our private road, Beavers Pond Trail (it is the 2nd right turn possible). Turn here for the House, Suite or our "office". The next right is the driveway for Julianna's Cottage at 3851 Larson Lake Road. From Port Angeles you will travel towards Olympia on Highway 101. Continue through the town of Sequim (pronounced as though the "e" were missing) and eventually you will see a turn for the Hood Canal Bridge. Take this exit and climb the hill, you are now on Highway 104. In about 10 miles you will see a left turn for Highway 19 towards Port Townsend and Port Ludlow. Take this left turn onto Highway 19 (known locally as the Beaver Valley Road). In about 1½ miles there will be a road to the right that you DO NOT TAKE; this heads into Port Ludlow. Continue for about another mile on Highway 19 and the Beaver Valley Store will be on your left. Turn left here onto Larson Lake Road. In just a block or so, on the right, you will see our private road, Beavers Pond Trail (it is the 2nd right turn possible). Turn here for the House, Suite or our "office". The next right is the driveway for Julianna's Cottage at 3851 Larson Lake Road.
